The Treasurer is a key member of CMAPs, responsible for ensuring financial stewardship and accountability across the organisation.

Patient & Carer Representative Liaison (PA) (PA applicants only)
The Liaison supports meaningful engagement with patient and carer representatives, ensuring their voices inform CMAPs’ work.

- Facilitating communication between CMAPs and patient/carer reps
- Supporting inclusive and accessible engagement practices
- Advising on patient-centred care and advocacy
- Promoting co-production in policy and service design

National Student Representative (Student applicants only)
The National Student Representative advocates for student voices within CMAPs, ensuring their perspectives shape policy and development.

- Representing student members in the Office of PAs and working groups
- Gathering and communicating student feedback
- Supporting student engagement and outreach
- Promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and professional development
- Liaising with education providers and stakeholders

Election Process
1. Eligibility
- Only CMAPs members in good standing are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be in good standing with the General Medical Council (GMC), where applicable.
- Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience as a Medical Associate Professional (MAP).
- Applicants must be able to commit to a two-year term of office and be willing to work outside normal working hours.
- Candidates may apply for only one position.
- Eligibility criteria for each role, including whether the role is open to Physician Associates (PAs) or Anaesthesia Associates (AAs), will be clearly stated in the college communications.
2. Expression of Interest
Those wishing to stand for election must submit an expression of interest to the recruitment email (recruitment@cmaps.org.uk) within the advertised timeframe. Following this, candidates will have the opportunity to ask questions about the process before receiving a nomination form.
3. Nomination Form
Candidates must complete the nomination form in full, providing:
- Full name and the position being applied for
- Confirmation of CMAPs membership and good standing with CMAPs and GMC (if applicable)
- Confirmation of GMC registration (if applicable)
- A professional photograph
- A 350-word leadership statement (maximum)
- A declaration of any potential conflicts of interest
- A brief professional background summary
4. Conflicts of Interest
If any potential conflicts of interest are declared, these will be reviewed by the CMAPs Council within five working days. Written feedback will be provided to the candidate, including whether they remain eligible for nomination or any actions required to maintain eligibility.
5. Endorsement
Each candidate must obtain an endorsement from one other CMAPs member. Members may endorse more than one candidate. Endorsements must be submitted directly to the recruitment email by the published deadline (10th November 2025). Self-endorsement is not permitted.
6. Submission and Verification
By the close of nominations (10th November 2025), all of the following must have been received for a candidate to be considered eligible:
- Expression of interest (via recruitment email)
- Completed nomination form
- Endorsement from another CMAPs member
7. Election Administration
Ross Raymond-Jones, a CMAPs Co-Registrar, will be responsible for overseeing fairness and compliance of the election process.
Once all submissions are verified, eligible candidates’ information, including their name, photograph, leadership statement, and position applied for, will be forwarded to Civica Election Services, who will formally manage and oversee the election process.
8. Voting
Voting will take place online and will be administered by Civica Election Services. Eligible CMAPs members will receive a secure electronic ballot via email. Members experiencing issues accessing or submitting the ballot should contact the recruitment email (recruitment@cmaps.org.uk)
9. Timeline
- Nominations open: 20 October 2025
- Nominations close: 10 November 2025 at 5.00 pm
- Election period open: Final week of November 2025
- Results announced: Within two weeks of the close of voting
10. Outcome and Results
Civica Election Services will count and verify all votes. The results will be communicated to all CMAPs members via email and published to CMAPs members via email.
If a position is uncontested, the sole eligible candidate will be elected unopposed.
11. Candidate Conduct and Campaigning
Candidates are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner throughout the election period. Candidates may communicate their intentions to put themselves forward for these leadership roles via social media; however, actively advertising their candidacy in any form is not permitted. Campaigning that misrepresents CMAPs or other candidates will not be permitted.
12. Withdrawal Procedure
Candidates may withdraw their nomination by submitting written notice to the recruitment email (recruitment@cmaps.org.uk) before the close of nominations.
13. Data Protection
All candidate information will be held securely and used solely for the purpose of administering the election in accordance with data protection regulations.
14. Appeals and Complaints
Any appeals or complaints relating to the election process should be submitted in writing to the board@cmaps.org.uk.
