Alice Fitzpatrick

Role: Co-President and Trustee of the Medical Associate Congress

Education: University of Birmingham (2015-2017)

Clinical Role: With eight years of experience in the North East of England, Alice has transitioned from Acute and Respiratory Medicine to Primary Care, where she now works with a focus on Women’s Health and reducing health inequalities. She is also a faculty member at a local university, leading a clinical skills and professional behaviour programme which prepares PA students for clinical practice.

Why Alice Joined CMAPs Office of PAs: Alice joined CMAPs because she believes PAs and AAs need a professional body that is solely focused on serving their best interests. For her, this includes providing support, delivering professional guidance, and advocating for the growth and development of MAPs. Alice is passionate about creating a strong foundation of professional standards and fostering engagement with stakeholders at the highest levels to ensure MAPs have the tools to succeed. She envisions the College as a stabilising force in the profession, empowering members to excel in their clinical roles and pursue their professional interests. Jack Hill

Role: Vice President

Education: University of Leeds (2017-2019)

Clinical Role: Jack works within the specialty of Clinical Haematology, managing patients with blood and bone marrow conditions. His work spans inpatient, outpatient, and day-unit care, and includes diagnostic procedures such as bone marrow and skin biopsies. He also works part-time in Urgent Care.

Why Jack Joined CMAPs Office of PAs: Jack believes that PAs and AAs are highly skilled professionals who deserve the same level of advocacy, representation, and professional standards as any other healthcare group. He sees CMAPs as a pivotal step toward achieving this recognition. His goals include helping the College and its Offices lead in developing professional standards, working with stakeholders to ensure MAPs have access to the best training and opportunities, and fostering a sense of pride in the profession. Jack also wants to ensure the profession continues to innovate, such as exploring pathways with NHS Blood and Transplant for blood component authorisation. Having worked with patient and carer networks in the past to improve understanding of PAs, Jack is excited to bring similar projects to the College to amplify its impact.

Andy Jones

Role: Past President

Education: University of Manchester (0161 manny on the map), (2016-2018)

Clinical Role: Andy works in Upper GI surgery, subspecialist interest in biliary/pancreatic medicine. He works across both inpatient and outpatient services, providing comprehensive care to patients. In addition to his primary role, he participates (sadly) in on-call duties, covering general surgery, breast surgery and urology. He is also lead PA for his trust and is a visiting lecturer for surrounding PA programs.

Why Andy Joined CMAPs Office of PAs: Andy’s journey to CMAPS began as he originally served as the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA) President during the turbulent and unpredictable second half of 2024. During this time, he played a key role in stakeholder engagement, advocating and fighting for PAs and supporting the formation of the Leng review, as well as working closely with PAs across the country. As the FPA closed, Andy reflected deeply on the future of the profession. He firmly believed that a strong, independent voice was essential to advocate effectively for PAs. Now, he is committed to CMAPS as the professional body that can not only enhance the perception of PAs but also lead the way as a truly independent organisation—one that can advocate for the profession with clarity, strength, and efficiency.
